Orson H. Gygi, founder of the company, established his storefront in 1945 after years of pounding the pavement doing door-to-door sales. When Orson had enough money to open a brick-and-mortar shop, he did. He employed his family to run his business, and he himself worked on the floor until he couldn’t any longer. To this day, Orson Gygi is family owned and operated. Orson’s grandson, Brad McDonald, oversees the company as the General Manger, and his daughter, Heather Smith, is the current Brand Developer.
Even though Orson Gygi has evolved over the years from a wholesale restaurant supply company to more of your everyday and special events supplier, our ultimate business model hasn’t changed. Our fundamental goal is to gain the confidence of our customers. We do this by trying to keep our store stocked with the products they are looking for. Orson always tried to carry the products his customers requested. If they asked for it, he would do what he could to carry it.
Come into Orson Gygi and say hi. You’ll see Brad and Heather wandering throughout the store helping customers and ensuring their grandfather’s, and great grandfather’s, legacy lives on. We hope you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for, and if not, we’ll try to accommodate your kitchen needs with our wealth of kitchen knowledge.
